Pokemon Go. Its not often we see something this massive disrupt the planet, let alone business's.

It took Twitter 10 years to establish the reach they have online.

It took Pokemon Go under 2 weeks to break their record.

That's how massive it is. It was created out of the Google Maps company 5 years ago and they formed a new company specifically for this. See that local connection there? So we know this is only the first release of MUCH more to come. Pokemon Go is the first GEO Marketing game.

This new Geo Gaming will disrupt business more than Social Media.. Social Media is limited to Online Only. Geo Gaming like Pokemon Go, actually BRINGS people TO your Business, real people with real purchasing power right at your door step. So its a big call to say it will be bigger than social media but I'm right, its bringing social media to your door step. An incredible amount of power, never seen before.

I wanted to show you an example I found today. See this Yelp page? Notice the button with the words “PokeStop Nearby”? When you click it filters out all the other competitors with a PokeStop near them.

How about this example. The San Clemente Police Services are encouraging felons to come closer to the jail for Pokemon Go awards. Considering the fever this game has created, I bet the cops nab themselves a criminal!

That’s it for today. Watch for more about Pokemon Go marketing tips coming soon!

1. Create A Newsletter Sign-Up Series A newsletter series can be a goldmine for lead generation and increasing your subscriber base. Give them a place to sign up and verify their email address then decide on the length of your series. A common series is 7-14 days of content each day or every other day. On the final day, include a link to a free trial, demo or discount. This will turn your readers into buyers.

2. Offer Free Subscription(S) Offering a free subscription to your newsletter, product, demo or blog can be a great way to increase traffic to your website as well as readership. People love anything that is free or discounted! If you, as a practice, don’t charge for your newsletter you should still remind the user that it is free before they sign up.

3. Add Video And Use Social Share Networks Insert or imbed a video into your newsletter and then share the video on all your social networks such as; Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and LinkedIn.

4. Add A Sign-Up App If you don’t have the skills to build your own app or you simply don’t want to build your own, then turn to Facebook. The new Facebook Timeline offers many options now for building apps, such as an email sign-up box and page. Adding a sign-up app will increase traffic and readership to your website and for your newsletter.

5. Build A Home For Your Newsletter Lastly, make sure you build an actual home for your newsletter . This simply means that you want your e-newsletter to live on one of your hosted sites as well as the archived pieces. This gives you both the opportunity to extend the life of your content and also a URL to share socially. Build the framework supporting this and you will see the increase in traffic and readership. Including your back-issues on your website also adds valuable unique content to your site, helping increase your search relevance and rankings.

Online marketing is constantly evolving; here are five strategies you need to keep in mind in order to stay ahead in 2016:

1. Mobile Accessibility and Optimization. 50% of consumers will reach you online via mobile devices. That is tablets and smartphones. It must be easy for them to learn about and contact you.

2. A Refined Social Media Presence. Regardless of the platform (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) your social media posts should be consistent. Social media shouldn’t be used for self-promotion but rather as a way to engage users and build brand trust.

3. Content Is Still King. Developing quality content should be seen as a priority for any company. Content marketing provides information to customers in order to build trust, develop the brand and ensure you are considered an expert in your industry.

4. Improve Your SEO. Don't make it difficult for people to find you online. Make sure each page and media details a single subject and solution.

5. Brands Must Get Personal. Consumers will share personal information with you if they trust you. Once you have one to one online communication, personalize the message to them.

1. Publish Relevant Content
Quality content is the number one driver of your search engine rankings and there is no substitute for great content. Each page should focus on a keyword or keyword phrase your customers might use to find your service. Use this keyword in the title of the page and a little bit throughout the article.

2. Update Your Content Regularly
Your fans love fresh content and Search engines do, too. Regularly updated content is viewed as one of the best indicators of a site’s relevancy, so be sure to keep it fresh.

3. Metadata Tags Are Important
I know the word Metadata makes most people cringe. It's code and doesn't mean anything to people. But it means a lot to Google so ask for help and get it done. Remember the keyword from Tip #2? Now you use it in the Title Metadata, Description Metadata and Keyword Metadata. The Title Metadata does not have to be a complete sentence. The Description Metadata should be a couple short sentences. And the Keyword Metadata is just keywords separated by commas.

4. Have a Link-worthy Site
Don't just use "Click Here" as the link text to another page on your website. Use those Keywords again. But don't over do it.

5. Use alt Tags
Always describe your visual and video media using those Keywords in alt tags. They allow search engines to locate your page, which is crucial. If you also name the photo file using Keywords then those photos can show up in Google's Image results.

Once you've done these steps wait a month or so and check out your rankings. I know you'll be surprised! If you need help with any of these tasks, feel free to contact us at 206-778-6550.
